Volunteering
One of the best ways to get involved and be present for your child is to volunteer
When parents and trusted adults volunteer, the whole school benefits! There are many opportunities for parents and community members to get involved, and your help is needed to make the magic happen here at Locke!
Upcoming opportunities:
1. Locke on the Block - We need all hands on deck, this is our biggest event of the year!
- Our biggest needs are setting up, running activities, and cleaning up at the end.
2. Class Parents - be the liaison between your child's teacher and the rest of the parents.
- Help organize supply collections, recruit field trip chaperones, and organize parents around events in your classroom. Our teachers are excellent communicators, but they need engaged parents who want to support them by keeping others in the loop. Learn more on our Class Parents page
3. Library Magicians - spread the joy of reading. Our school library is run entirely by the PTA. (For years, we didn't have a school library)
- We need folks willing to take some shifts during the school day and learn what it takes to keep books and reading easily accessible to our children. Even a few hours a week can make a huge difference for our students.
Email ps185lockelibrary@gmail.com or speak to Niko Godfrey Bommer and/or Lauren Yu for more details.
